Dr. Travis Lane Stork became a national sensation when he appeared on The Bachelor as the man every woman was after. Travis was on the show’s 8th season in 2006. The emergency room physician is now 45 years old and has accomplished a lot post-Bachelor. He didn’t end up finding a wife on the reality television show, but he did go down a path that was much more public as he continued with television. Travis, who was in his residency when he did The Bachelor, finished up his residency at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, before moving on to hosting one of the biggest daytime talk shows to date. Skip intro >>
Travis is one of three doctors on a panel of experts on the television talk show The Doctors. Since 2008, Travis has been on that show as the host, as well as advisor. The show came into fruition after Travis was on Dr. Phil several times, leading to a spike in interest and ratings. Travis has since become a television personality, and has been a guest on other big daytime television talk shows, such as Today, Entertainment Tonight, The Talk, Rachael Ray, and Steve Harvey.
Travis didn’t end up finding love on The Bachelor, but he did marry afterwards. He was married to pediatrician Charlotte Brown from 2012 until 2015. Their marriage did not last, but we are sure this is far from the end for Travis and his romantic escapades. He has a huge heart, that is characterized by his love for his rescue dog, Nala. He has been in the news lately for interviewing and advising high profile individuals, such as Aaron Carter and Lamar Odom, but also because of his own personal rumor mill.
Before the announcment: The Bachelor
Back in 2006, Dr. Travis Stork was The Bachelor on the 8th season of the show. Women everywhere followed the show, as well as the many female contestants vying for Travis’s heart. Who wouldn’t want to marry a doctor? Stork got the chance to be The Bachelor when a producer of the show spotted him while he was out with his other ER friends and sat down to speak to him.

Next thing Travis knew, he was in Paris, France for the taping of the show, with him being at the center of it all. As Travis said when he was interviewed years later, “The next thing you know, I’m literally in Paris as the Bachelor.” Little did he know that his stint on The Bachelor would launch a television personality career for the tall doctor.
The Bachelor season 8 ended with Travis choosing Sarah Stone, a schoolteacher who lived just down the street from him in Nashville, Tennessee. The show was pre-taped, of course, and once it was aired for the world to see and fawn over, Travis and Sarah announced that they had already broken up prior to the finale’s airing. This, however, wouldn’t be the end of the love train for Travis.
Negative side effect
The only negative thing to come out of his time as The Bachelor, was that he felt like he needed to justify himself. “What I didn’t expect was coming back and then feeling like I then had to justify all the hard work I put in. Because I worked really hard in med school and residency. I worked hard, and my record speaks for itself.”
Travis Lane Stork was born in Colorado. He attended Duke University for his undergraduate studies, followed by medical school at the University of Virginia. He proceeded to do his hospital residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. It was during his residency that he was on The Bachelor. Travis is an emergency room physician. His parents, according to Travis, were farmers from the Midwest.
Travis’s claim to fame isn’t The Bachelor, in our opinion, it is his hosting job on The Doctors. The talk show centers around three doctors who each specialize in a different field – obstetrics, pediatrics, and plastic surgery – and the advice they give to their audience based on the questions they are presented with. The show was thought up after Travis was on Dr. Phil several times and audiences couldn’t get enough.
The show, The Doctors, won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Informative back in 2010. The ratings of the show have been steadily growing over the years and as a result, has had the show enjoy continued success. There was a study in England in 2014 that stated that most of the advice the doctors were giving was supported by evidence but at least 24% was unfounded, creating a slight controversy.
Travis lives in Nashville, Tennessee. When he isn’t busy on the small screen, he likes to be outside and active. His favorite pass times include kayaking, mountain biking and hiking. Travis takes pride in his physical appearance and likes to maintain as healthy a lifestyle as he possibly can. Considering he is a doctor, we would expect no less of him.
Travis may not have found love on The Bachelor, but he did find his own woman back in 2009. Travis met pediatrician Dr. Charlotte Brown three years before popping the question in 2012. The couple married in a small and intimate ceremony in Colorado. Sadly, their marriage did not last. The couple divorced in 2015 after three years of marriage.
Travis shot to fame with his appearance on The Bachelor in 2006. While he may have started on the show, he has been on many others thereafter. He doesn’t play characters on television, but rather makes appearances as himself. He has been on Rachael Ray, The Talk, Dr. Phil, Today, Entertainment Tonight, Steve Harvey, Inside Edition, and Hollywood Health Report, to name a few.
Home is where the quiet is
So why does a television personality live in Nashville and not in Los Angeles? “I just missed Nashville,” he explains. “Now that it’s evolved, in a strange way—other than the traffic—I think I’ve fallen in love with it more because there are now pockets for everyone. Whatever your desires are, you can find a community.” This is how Travis keeps his feet on the ground.
Why he became a doctor
There are many reasons for why Travis became a physician. Helping others is a given for those who enter the medical field, but Travis also said, “I just was never meant to be someone who was sitting all day in front of a computer,” he explains. “Even though I was good at math, I feel like that [volunteer clinic] experience showed me that you can use science and also have the personal element.”
Doctors are also not immune to getting their own medical issues. Travis said, “About 20 years ago, after some basketball injuries, I developed severe arthritis in both of my big toe joints. Ultimately, I had to have surgery in both, but unfortunately, it didn’t go very well.” In the hopes of getting the pain under control, Travis decided to undergo physical therapy instead of another surgery.
Travis met with Danielle Orland, a physical therapist, in order to help him with the issue he was having with his feet. “Meeting with Danielle … she would press certain areas, and it would elicit so much pain,” He recalled. “Honestly, I’m not sure why I let it get that bad.” In order to keep Travis moving, he has since been wearing custom orthotic shoe inserts.
People have raised the question of if Travis is straight or a part of the LGBT community. Whether that is anyone’s business remains open for discussion, but he had neither confirmed or denied any preference. There are online polls with many more people thinking that Travis is LGBT. We, however, beg to differ. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter (but an answer one way or another would be nice).
While his home in Tennessee is his main place of residence, Travis has another apartment in the Hollywood Hills while he is filming The Doctors. What started out as a simple apartment that he wasn’t sure how long he was going to be in, since the show was in its infancy, has become his home away from home. The apartment is one-thousand square feet in size. His favorite room is the living room.
Hollywood Hills hideaway
Of his place in Los Angeles, Travis said, “It’s one of the few places in L.A. where I can find a lot of peace and quiet. The space belies the fact that we’re smack-dab in the middle of a busy city. But the apartment backs up to the Wilshire Country Club, so I sometimes hear the occasional golf ball being teed off.”
When discussing his favorite piece of furniture in his home, Travis discussed how it is hard to find pieces that fit his height. He Said “I’m 6 foot 4, so I have a bistro table that can be elevated. I tend to do most of my work standing up. I herniated a disc in my back a couple of years ago, so for me, furniture has become about functionality and comfort.”
In addition to being the host of the television talk show The Doctors, Travis is also a published author several times over. Travis has been on the New York Times Best Seller list more than once. His book list includes The Lean Belly Prescription, The Doctor’s Diet, and most recently, The Lose You Belly Diet: Change Your Gut, Change Your Life.
Part of being Travis Stork is being able to interview famous people in regards to their health. In Hollywood, there are many famous faces who struggle with addiction and other such issues. Early in 2017, Travis interviewed Lamar Odom, former NBA player and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian. Travis got to interview Lamar after he got out of a rehabilitation facility after his near-death overdose last year.
As of 2017, Travis is worth $8 million. His income comes from his time on The Bachelor, and the long list of subsequent television appearances. His biggest money-maker would have to be his show, The Doctors, which he has been on since September 2008. Other big ticket items are his books and endorsement deals, which net him a few millions a year.
Travis has a very big heart. One of his biggest loves has been his rescue dog, Nala. “She’s one of my best buddies in my life — maybe the very best,” Stork, 45, told viewers. “The producers asked if I’d be willing to talk about it because Nala is nearing the end, and I’m not going to have her funeral until she passes.… Preparing for the end, and yet not having their funeral until it comes, it is a bit of an emotional roller coaster.”
Carrie Underwood connection
Rumor has it that Travis and singer Carrie Underwood were an item for a brief period of time. This rumor was confirmed by Travis’s brother-in-law’s father who said that Travis and Carrie were together, “They have been dating. They are a lovely couple.” This whole situation happened in 2008, prior to Carrie’s marriage to Mike Fisher, which happened in 2012.
Travis on Aaron Carter
Travis and his show, The Doctors, were the ones to try and figure out what was wrong with former teen heartthrob Aaron Carter. Aaron was on the show for fear of having HIV and other issues as he was too frail. in addition to his fears, Aaron is also open about his substance abuse. Travis said that “We tested Aaron for everything just looking for any disorders and we also tested what was a big concern for him, which was [STDs] including HIV.”
Today, Travis is filming the 10th season of The Doctors. The show has made him a household name in daytime television. As we mentioned earlier, Travis has been on other television shows that are also in the daytime genre as a result of The Doctors. He was recently interviewed by several magazines, maintaining that there is an ongoing interest in his life.
A loving accessory
If you’re a fan of The Bachelor, you’ll know the best part is the ending – when the doting Bachelor gives his chosen lady a beautiful rose and (normally) proposes to her. However, Dr. Travis wanted to do things his way. Although he wanted to start a relationship, he did not want to marry her just yet. So, instead of giving Sarah Stone the ring to put on her finger, he placed it through the chain of a necklace and gave her a loving accessory. Awkward.
A doomed relationship
Just like us, many fans were absolutely devastated to find that Sarah and Dr. Travis had ended things after just a few months. Although Travis and Stone obviously had a spark, it was clear that the relationship was doomed from the start. In fact, Dr. Travis has blamed the show for the breakdown of their love. After the filming of The Bachelor ended, Sarah and Travis (who lived just around the corner from each other) were not allowed to see each or talk to each other, so they didn’t spoil the ending for the viewers. Because of this, their relationship just couldn’t work.
Life after The Bachelor
Although Sarah and Dr. Travis sadly split up, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the pair. After going their separate ways, the former schoolteacher has decided to tread a different path. She left her job in the school and embarked on a career in the real estate industry. Her new lease of life (excuse the pun) lead her in the direction of a new love, and she is now married with two children. But Sarah wasn’t the only one to get lucky…
20 seasons of The Bacehlor
While Travis may have not found the love of his life on The Bachelor, he made another Bachelor appearance on the 20 season special called The Bachelor at at 20: A Celebration of Love. Travis Skyped into the show as he could not be there in person due to filming his show but he thanked Bachelor fans for always supporting him in his television career.
The ‘Cork’ couple
Of course, we’re huge fans of celebrity couples, so we were over the moon to find out that Carrie Underwood and Travis Stork were dating. As previously stated, the pair never confirmed that they were officially an item – but a relative did. Nevertheless, we can tell when celebs are getting up close and personal with each other, and so can the rest of the world. The pair were often spotted on dinner dates, which sparked the creative couple nickname, ‘Cork.’ Genius.
Setting a good example
As a trained doctor, it’s no surprise that Travis Stork leads a healthy life. In fact, he makes sure he is always setting a good example for his fans and those that follow his work and career. In most of his books, Travis shows the importance of physical exercise – and makes sure he fits this into his busy lifestyle. So, he rides his bike into work every single day to show people that it’s the small steps that count towards better wellbeing. Go on, Travis!
Just like Aaron Carter, many celebrity guests have taken a seat in The Doctors studio to seek help from Dr. Travis Stork and the other medical professionals. In 2016, Basketball player and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom, took a seat to address his substance abuse problem. A few days after the interview, Odom checked himself into a rehab clinic, thanks to Dr. Stork’s advice. Lamar now seems to be making a full recovery (yay!)
Aaron Carter’s recovery
However, there is only so much Dr. Travis Stork can do himself. Since his appearance on The Doctors, Aaron Carter has yet to seek treatment for his substance addiction. Although Travis urged him to seek help through rehabilitation treatment, Aaron has not complied, due to musical commitments and his own state of mind. Travis, naturally, is concerned about his reluctance and his worsening health – but realizes that only Aaron himself can make the decision to get help. That is the only way the treatment will work.
There have been hundreds of celebrities on the sofa with Dr. Travis Stork, and he always makes sure he has an emotional connection with them. One of the most inspiring moments was when Travis was asked about the Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker (good name). In 2008, Barker was involved in a horrific crash, where he was only one of two survivors. Dr. Stork spoke of his incredible resiliency during this ordeal and was so proud of the recovery he was making. Aww.
A new genre of TV
When The Doctors was first drawn up, the world groaned. Ugh, not ANOTHER hour of watching old, dull doctors trying to persuade us to eat healthily? Nevertheless, after just a few weeks on the air, The Doctors had proved that it was so much more than a boring medical talk show. The doctors themselves, along with Dr, Travis Stork (and his beautiful eyes) had made the show a hot topic, with many viewers tuning in to catch a glimpse of the hunk. Oo-er.
A nightmare first date
Like many of us, Stork has had a few nightmare first dates. When he was just 16-years-old, Stork was getting ready for his first date with the girl of his dreams. He started to drive over to her place when he suddenly felt nauseous (uh-oh). Almost instantaneously, Stork had projectile vomited over himself and the whole car. Pretty gross, right? Stork got to work with cleaning the mess, but couldn’t get rid of the smell. In the end, he poured a whole bottle of cologne in his car…
Alongside his troubles with his feet, Dr. Stork has struggled with other health issues. In fact, he began to develop chronic back pain and neck spasms while he was filming season 8 of The Doctors. Sometimes, the pain would be so bad he would completely lose feeling in his arm. Although he was smart enough to know that this was not okay, Dr. Travis simply ignored his problems – and they just got worse and worse.
Dr. Melamed’s help
After a while, Dr. Travis knew that he couldn’t ignore the pain anymore, so enlisted the help of a fellow doctor, Dr. Melamed. Dr. Melamed made sure he took as many tests and scans as possible to determine the cause of the pain and the best way to alleviate the condition. After various MRI scans, it was discovered that Dr. Travis had an infringement on his C7 nerve root (which isn’t too good) which was weakening his spine. Stork wanted to avoid surgery, so opted for acupuncture and a specialized treatment plan.
A small cameo
When it comes to TV shows, Dr. Travis Stork is primarily linked to The Doctors, The Bachelor and various other talk shows, such as The Rachael Ray Show and Entertainment Tonight. However, that isn’t where his TV career ends. In fact, Dr. Stork made a cameo on a famous TV show – of course, concerning the lives of doctors (what else?) In 2009, he appeared as himself on the popular TV show, Three Rivers. I mean, that’s pretty cool.
When Dr. Travis Stork isn’t wowing us all with his impressive medical knowledge, his lovable charm on The Bachelor, his books, or his social media presence, he loves to spend time with his family. Stork regularly takes his father on camping trips or takes his family on vacation with him. This is why so many people love Stork – although he is extremely famous (and rich) he is still a down to earth guy that loves his home comforts.
His love life
At the moment, there’s no word on whether Dr. Travis Stork is dating anyone. It seems he is so busy with his hectic schedule – he has shows to plan, he has books to write, and he has a full social calendar that probably makes dating difficult. However, we hope this bachelor (excuse the pun) doesn’t stay a bachelor for much longer and finds the woman or man of his dreams. We wonder who he will give the rose to next? Maybe this pug…
In addition to appearing on his own show, Dr. Stork has appeared on other talk shows such as the Rachael Ray Show. In one of his many appearances, Travis discusses making meals that taste good but that are also healthy. He emphasized that one of the best ways to make a meal healthy is through portion control. He also added that although you may think a food is bad for you, it might not be true.
A day in the ER
Travis is trained as an ER physician and on one of the episodes of The Doctors, viewers got a look at what ER doctors face on a daily basis. Dr. Strok said, “When you show people a glimpse of what happens in these medical centers, much like we’re able to do on our show, it allows you at home, if you do end up in the E.R., you’ll feel more comfortable.”
Study on The Doctors
While Travis’ show The Doctors has gained a lot of fame and success, some controversy has arisen around whether or not the information provided on the show is accurate. In 2014, The British Medical Journal evaluated the show based on evidence that supported the advice given on the show. They concluded that over 60% of the recommendations made on the show were based on evidence and almost 15% had evidence to contradict what the doctor’s said.
Real house husbands
Dr. Travis Stork made a comedic guest appearance on a couple of episodes the spoof reality show called Real House Husbands of Hollywood. The Show airs on BET and stars Kevin Hart, Nick Cannon and Robin Thicke. The stars play fictionalized versions of themselves and the show follows them as they live their daily lives of the rich and famous in Hollywood. Travis made appearnces in episodes where one of the characters does not donate a kidney to an ill friend.
Lose weight the right way
Travis recently wrote an article about some of the myths that people who are trying to lose weight might believe. art of the article touches on the question of if carbs really make you gain weight. He gave this advice. “Yes, cutting simple carbs helps rev up weight loss. But it’s not necessary to push complex carbs off your plate. You can lose weight and burn fat while still enjoying the many health benefits of fruits, veggies, legumes, and whole grains.”
In an article, Travis discussed the benefits of coconut oil and if it actually does what its users hope it does. Travis noted that there has been a lot of attention surrounding the oil recently and said, “I’d still like to see more research but in the meantime, I think it’s fine to include coconut oil in your diet. It adds a nutty, rich, almost buttery taste to salads and sautéed vegetables.”
Larry King appearance
Dr. Stork debunked an infamous myth on Larry King’s show when Larry king asked if supplements are required if people want to get fit. Stork was quick to denounce it as a myth and warned viewers saying he tells his patients to be careful with what supplements they choose to take. He said, “It is one of the most unregulated industries.” He added that people should educate themselves about what supplements they take and if there are potential side effects.
Dr. Stork had been using the same office to work on his television show for 10 years and it needed an update. Travis’ office got a makeover from the design agency called Laurel & Wolf. His office was very outdated and he said, “If I’ve ever been grumpy onstage, it’s probably just my office’s fault,” Travis was very happy with the transformation and was stunned when he walked in to see his new workspace.
Travis is all over social media. He knows that through social media he can gain a larger platform and remain as relevant as he would like. His Twitter profile has 168,000 followers on it. His profile reads, “Travis Stork, M.D., is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and host of television’s The Doctors.” He posts photos and articles he finds interesting, as well as posts his own thoughts on various topics.
